Visiting friends gardens, is a treat to photo their beautiful flowers, and capture the beauty of nature. On returning home , I am always eager to get painting. 5 Tips of the day to get started and check out my watercolour classes running in August on painting lavender, roses, lupins and daisies
- I paint by really looking at the shapes of the over all flower and petals
- I make a wash on my watercolour paper, of the shapes
- I go back, when dry, and continue adding detail, petals, stamens, deeper colours, until I am happy with my painting
- I go back and add more detail either pen and ink or sometimes crayon
- Add leaf shapes, paying attention to the details after achieving green shades you like
- Painting, doesn't have to be in the true colours of the plant, you can paint in any colour
